It is hard to have to sit and wait for the precious new lives to be born on our little farm.
Cali is due to kid any day now, and I think the suspense just might kill us. We have done a lot of research on all the possible problems she might incur during the birthing process. Hopefully it will be enough. We are really hoping, for her health & well being, that she is carrying twins. Smallish twins will be much easier for her to pass through her tiny frame than a moderate size single kid. She has just started to slowly build her itty bitty udder. Hopefully she has close to the same conformation as Momma. If so, she will be able to feed twins with no problem whatsoever.
Momma appears to be carrying a single this go around, although she could just be hiding small twins. We can't wait to see what colorations she & Marly produce. She has not started building her udder yet. Going by how her udder & teats looked with her first freshening, she should have a beautiful udder this year!
Maude has roughly a month left in her pregnancy, but her right side is looking rather large. She just might be carrying twins this time! She won't start building her udder for at least another 3 weeks or so. Her first freshening udder was a bit lopsided, hopefully it evens out more this year.
